EDITORS NOTES
The event celebrates Lydenburg’ pioneering and ancient history. Echoes of creaking wagons on the Longtom fade as the race remembers an even more prehistoric time. For it is here, in Mashishing that one finds the home of The Lydenburg Heads. Dated between AD500 and AD800 these relics are one of the earliest known forms of African sculpture in Southern Africa.
The race will be staged for the fourth time in 2019. The programme includes a 12 kilometre trail run.
