THE RUN


There are three distances to choose from. The longer 45 kilometre ride presents a stiff challenge by comparison. The total ascent is just over 1100 metres, exploring the Simonsberg trail system around Uitkyk, Muratie and Delheim Estates. The shorter 30 kilometre course is considerably easier and forgoes the rigor of the Simonsberg section. It has a moderate 450 meters of ascent over the distance. The fun ride is a flat cruise on and around the new L'Avenir and Nooitgedacht trails.

EDITORS NOTES

This mountain biking original was first held at Vergelegen in 1994. The race has moved to a new venue between Stellenbosch and Somerset West and will be staged for the 24th time in 2018. The Spur Mountain Bike Classic is one of the oldest fun rides on the Western Cape MTB calendar and has always been a great family outdoor event.
