This is a three day stage race that takes you over the tracks of the Cradle of Humankind.
Day 1 Distanc: 49 kilometres. Total ascent: 970 metres.
The Cradle Meander covers the rocky steep trails in the Avianto trail network. The tree lined Crocodile River will give you some comfort before you head out towards Glen Burn Lodge along some open farm tracks. A steep rocky climb will lead you to the highest point in the Cradle, a reward in itself with sweeping views of the area. The continue onward to one of the neighbouring game farms.
Day 2 Distance: 64 kilometres. Total ascent: 1,100 metres.
The Lake Heritage Traverse is the longest stage. It starts with a short stretch of tar road which leads onto the jeep tracks of the Avianto trails. After a short tar transition the route links in with trails of the newly formed Cradle Moon. Here you will find some tough single track and jeep track sections with plenty of short power climbs. The Cradle moon reservoir offers scenic views of Lake Heritage and some possible encounters with the game that roams freely in the newly renovated conservancy.
Day 3 Distance: 45 kilometres. Total ascent: 880 metres.
Conquering the Kloof will be on your mind on this relatively moderate stage. A neutral zone takes you through the original town of Muldersdrift and sets the stage for the final day. The hidden gem of the Laurentia Farm provides a spectacular back drop for this ride. A mixture of cattle trail, walking paths and custom built single tracks await. Once in the Kloof there are views of a natural spring waterfall and a World Heritage Site that few get to visit.
