The road route starts with an easy ride out of Durban going south with a slow uphill to Pinetown. Then comes a scenic flat stretch hugging the shoreline going north toward Umhloti. The race ends with an easy flat ride most of the way to the finish.

The cyclocross course starts at 06h00 and follows the road race in part. There are several five kilometre off-road sections that take you through the picturesque sugar cane fields and natural bush of the Tongaat Hullett Estate between Umhlanga River and Umdloti.
